Once a rural area consisting of primitive trails and rugged terrain, West Chester today is the epicenter for business development in the Cincinnati-Dayton Metroplex. Located in the southeast corner of Butler County along the I-75 corridor, West Chester is the fifth largest community in the greater Cincinnati area with more than 56,000 residents surrounded by larger cities like Springdale, Fairfield, Mason, Hamilton and Middletown.

Beautiful parks and quality recreation programs offer everything from wooded trails, soccer facilities and tennis courts to playgrounds, picnic areas and outdoor concerts. The Keehner Park Amphitheatre hosts outdoor concerts and performances by the West Chester Symphony. The "Cabin in the Clearing," an original building now used for special events and as a classroom for studying pioneer life, is another of Keehner Park's outstanding attractions. The restored Station Road Schoolhouse offers educational programs. Less scholarly events such as ice cream socials are also held on the 3.2-acre schoolyard. The West Chester Community Theater, Children's Performing Arts of Lakota and Thespis Theatricals are popular local theater companies.

The Lakota School District serves West Chester students. Lakota is a Native American word meaning “unity” and district schools unite to provide quality education for more than 17,000 students. The teacher-student ratio is favorable and has a 95.2 percent rate of graduation and a 90 percent rate of of graduates attend college. The Lakota School District has received a perfect score and a rating of “Excellent” on the Ohio Department of Education report card every year for ten years and with Distinction four years in a row.

Growth in West Chester was initially slow, as the only roads available were primitive trails and transportation meant walking or horseback riding. When I-75 was constructed in the 1950s, approximately seven miles of highway bisected the community, causing significant growth in both population and industry.
